Flooding Update from rainstorm on July 10th, 2024

Department of Public Works crews and contractors are concentrating on closed areas this morning and will begin to assess and work on other damaged areas once roads are opened and will be checking all Town roads and highways throughout the day. The following Town roads/locations are closed and will be under construction:


Severence Hill Road at Mud Hollow Road

Goss Hollow at Ski Tow Road

Houghton Hill from Rabbit Plain to the bridge

Concord Ave and Gilman

Lower Gilman Ave 

Emmerson Falls Road- OPENED as of 9:30 am on July 11th

Bible Hill Road

West Hill Road near Lawrence Hill


Please avoid travel and do not drive through water on the roads.

Household Hazardous Waste Days 2026 Collection Events The Town of St. Johnsbury partners with the Town of Burke to offer four Household Hazardous Waste Days. See below for dates and information. St. Johnsbury: Saturday, May 16th and Saturday, September 26th. Burke: Saturday, July 18th, and Saturday, October 17th. All events will be open from 8:30-9 for CEGs* and 9-1 for St.J and Burke residents. *CEGs are Conditionally Exempt small Quantity Generators. These are businesses that generate ~220 pounds of HHW or less per month and generate 2.2 pounds or less of acutely hazardous waste per month.
